Before he was fiddling with drum machines and synths, Gerber was all about groups like Joy Division and My Bloody Valentine. These influences still echo clearly in his music today, whether it be in his hypnotising live performances or contemplative, moody productions. He brought his debut album ‘Late Bloomers’ to Sven Vath’s Cocoon and In 2012 he usurped the concept of a mix CD, delivering a Fabric album made up of 100% original new productions. Over the course of four albums, Gerber has shown himself to be a singular artist, earning coveted spots on BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix and Resident Advisor’s Exchange and mix series.
As a performer, Guy Gerber is consistently rated one of the best global touring acts in dance music, securing a top 10 live performer nod three years in a row in the Resident Advisor polls. After spending years focusing on DJing, Guy is slated to return to live performance with an impending live tour in 2019 following his much-anticipated performance at The Hollywood Bowl.
Gerber’s sets are never forgettable. He has an unerring ability to disrupt expectations at his clandestine, free Ibiza beach party of the same name, RUMORS. A free event running since 2014 with a relaxed atmosphere that stays true to the original Ibiza ethos, the RUMORS parties rejected hype by avoiding the mega-lineup announcements and posters across the rest of the island. Despite this RUMORS parties have seen artists including Sven Vàth, Sasha, Bedouin, DJ Harvey, Dubfire, Seth Troxler, Bob Moses, Dj Tennis, Danny Tengalia and many more sharing the decks alongside Gerber.
Following their Ibiza successes, Guy now tours his RUMORS parties worldwide with events at Art Basel Miami, stages at many Worldwide festivals, street parties in Shoreditch London and Chinatown LA, season-long residencies in Las Vegas, Ibiza and Mykonos, and unique locations in New York, Tulum, Sardinia, Santiago, Buenos Aires, Dubai and Tel Aviv, proving that RUMORS really do spread.
